Day 1

Your trek northward will take you to our multi-faceted neighbor to the north - Canada. Explore the beauty of Montreal and Quebec.
Head to New York State and charming Alexandria Bay where you will overnight.

Day 2

Continue on your journey to Montreal. Meet your local guide for a walking tour of Vieux Montreal.

Visit Notre-Dame Basilica - breathtaking architecture, gold leaf, infinite blue, thousands of stars and exceptional stained-glass windows. The Aura Experience immerses you in a captivating visual and musical universe, presented upon one of the most sublime canvases imaginable: the French-inspired, Gothic Revival architectural interior of Notre-Dame Basilica of Montréal. It’s an amazing sound and light show for 30 minutes.

Dinner afterwards will be in Old Montreal (Vieux Montreal).

Day 3

Meet your local guide for a full day of touring Montreal. From Vieux Montreal to Quartier des Spectacles (the city’s major cultural district) and Mount Royal, and the St Lawrence River, history and culture collide creating a magical destination.

St Joseph Oratory is in the tree-lined borough of historic Mount Royal (where the city gets its name, Montreal). The monumental architectural is as remarkable as the works of art from France and Canada which embellish the buildings. The Basilica’s dome is itself the highest point in Montreal.

The Carillon at St. Joseph’s offers a recital, which is a delight to hear and a marvel to watch.

After lunch on your own, more Montreal sightseeing!

Then you take to the river. Enjoy a scenic 1.5-hour narrated cruise of Montreal and the surrounding area, along the St. Lawrence River.

Day 4

You will see Canada’s unique French side with a visit to the province of Quebec. Upon arrival to Quebec City, you will travel inside The Wall – the only walled-in city in North America.

Meet your local guide for a walking tour through the cobblestoned streets, past 17th century architecture. You can imagine the horse drawn carriages and sonorous church bells.

Walk over to the Chateau Frontenac hotel located in the Old fortified City for a historic tour of this landmark, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 5

Meet your local guide for a full day of touring.

Basilica Shrine at St Anne de Beaupre - The Shrine is the second oldest pilgrimage site in North America, and a magnificent building set along the St. Lawrence. Today you will have a guided tour to discover the shrine’s extraordinary history through its paintings, mosaics, stained-glass windows, and stone and wooden sculptures.

Albert Gilles Copper - For nearly 100 years, the Gilles family has been renowned for its metal craftsmanship. The small unique museum tells the story of copper but also shows magnificent cooper-art. After a demonstration and guided tour, you will be given a small sheet of copper and with tools, and experiment in the art of repoussé.

Travel along the St. Lawrence, for some wonderful sightseeing as you travel to stunning Montmorency Falls. Higher than Niagara Falls, the setting is beautiful.

Île d'Orléans celebrates Québec's rural tradition with its gorgeous scenery stretching along the banks of the St. Lawrence River, only a few minutes from Québec City, you enjoy a wonderful wine tasting in a delightful setting!

Day 6

After breakfast depart for the Thousand Islands.

Stop at Sucrerie de la Montagne, a traditional sugar shack! Comfortable tasty traditional Sugar Shack meal along with live music in a festive setting. You will enjoy lunch here.

Overnight in Alexandria Bay.

Depart for home with wonderful memories of your Canadian adventure!

6:00 am - Monroeville

6:30 am - Pittsburgh

7:00 am - Sewickley

 

Return: Approximate return to the Pittsburgh area between 6:00-7:00 pm

 

Walking Code: 4 - This tour requires a heavy amount of walking. To truly experience the program and destination, you need to be able to participate in physical activities such as long walking tours, walking over uneven terrain, climbing stairs and periods of standing. Some of the touring days may be longer, with select included activities occurring later in the evening.

 

Insurance: Travel Insurance is optional. To be eligible for the waiver of pre-existing medical condition exclusion, the protection plan must be purchased within 15 days from the time you make your initial trip deposit and for the prepaid non-refundable payments or deposits. If purchased, the insurance premium is refundable during the 15 day review period, unless you have filed a claim or departed on your trip.
