Travel to Youngstown, OH to see beautiful art and lush gardens!
Enjoy a guided tour of Fellows Riverside Gardens. The Mill Creek Metro Parks Horticultural Gardens has 12 acres of beautiful, diverse, landscapes and scenic overlooks. Allow time for the Davis Visitor Center and stroll through the gift shop, art gallery, museum, and climb the observation tower for spectacular views.
You will now spend some time at the Amish farmers market where you will get some lunch. (L)
At the Butler Institute of American Art, you will enjoy a guided tour of America’s first museum dedicated solely to American Art. Hear the story and view the famous 1872 original painting of Snap the Whip by Winslow Homer.
The final stop of the day will be a Lanterman’s Mill. This is one of Mahoning County’s most historic landmarks, Lanterman’s Mill was built in 1845-46 by German Lanterman and Samuel Kimberly. Restored in 1982-85 through a gift from the Ward and Florence Beecher Foundations, this community treasure represents one of the many pioneer industries developed along Mill Creek and operates today as it did in the 1800s, grinding corn, wheat, and buckwheat.
