Day 1

Join Lenzner’s historian Kevin Green for a fabulous tour that will whisk you away to Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio to learn about the War of 1812! Enjoy a dinner theatre this evening before overnighting in Indianapolis, IN.

Day 2

Today, visit the Tippecanoe Battlefield & Museum, fought in Battle Ground, IN between the United States’ forces led by William Henry Harrison and representatives of Tecumseh’s Native American confederation. This afternoon, visit Old Fort Wayne, which is a reconstruction of the 19th century military fort built by Major John Whistler from 1815-1816. Overnight in Auburn, IN.

Day 3

Today, enjoy the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, which is dedicated to preserving cars built by Auburn, Cord, and the Duesenberg Motor Company. Travel to Mackinaw City to board a ferry which will cross Lake Michigan to Mackinac Island. Your home for the next two nights will be at a historic Victorian waterfront hotel.

Day 4

Your stay on the Island will include an island tour by horse-drawn carriage to the following sites: Surrey Hills Museum, Wings of Mackinac Butterfly Conservatory, Arch Rock, and Fort Mackinac. Free time this afternoon and evening to enjoy the island. Don’t forget to sample some of the famous Mackinac fudge.

Day 5

You will sail back to the mainland on a ferry and head on to River Raisin National Battlefield Park. This park preserves the site of the Battle of Frenchtown as the only national battlefield marking a site of the War of 1812. Overnight in Perrysburg, OH.

Day 6

Visit Fort Meigs Historic Site, which was a United States fortification along the Maumee River in what is now Perrysburg, OH during the War of 1812. This afternoon travel by Jet Express to Put-In-Bay, OH, also known as South Bass Island. You will see Perry’s Victory and International Peace Monument, dedicated to Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry and have free time in the town. The Jet Express will take you back to the mainland. Travel back to Pittsburgh with many memories of this fabulous historical tour!
