Mountain Playhouse by Lenzner Tours 2023

Day One

It has been such a long intermission. Mountain Playhouse is thrilled to announce that it is over and they are preparing for their second act! There are some temporary changes as they return to producing theater. During the pandemic, the nonprofit made an effort to purchase the theater, so that they would be able to make the much-needed improvements and address the long-deferred maintenance issues to enhance audience experience and improve backstage conditions. They were optimistic that an agreement could be reached with the owners, but things just didn’t work out. The board of directors has made the decision not to renew the lease and they have found a TEMPORARY home at the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where they will present the 2023 season. While everyone is disappointed that an agreement could not be reached, this move is an opportunity to assure that they are able to present Broadway quality shows, while enhancing the comfort of the audiences and company members. The season will be shorter than previous years, but they are able to accommodate all due to the increased number of seats in the theater.

Travel to Johnstown, PA, and enjoy buffet lunch at a local country club. Then it off to the Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center at the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown to see the Mountain Playhouse’s matinee show.

On the way home you will stop at Sandhill Berries and Green Dance Winery for a piece of pie and ice cream.

Nunsense - The Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show. We meet Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer; Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices; a streetwise nun from Brooklyn named Sister Robert Anne; Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is a wannabe ballerina; and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia, the nun who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head.


Life Could Be a Dream - Meet Denny and the Dreamers, a fledgling doo-wop singing group preparing to enter the Big Whopper Radio contest to realize their dreams of making it to the big time! Trouble comes in the form of Lois, who arrives to put some polish on the boys. Denny falls in love, Wally falls in line, Eugene falls apart, and along comes handsome heartthrob Duke to send the whole situation spinning. Life Could Be a Dream will leave you laughing, singing, and cheering— let’s hear it for the boys!
